Note #69: Customer Review (experience) on shopping with MyDeal.com.my

Bismillah..

I really want to write this so that people can take caution, be it them or the potential customer. This is about my experience dealing with one online deal shop, or so idk what is the specific term. It's called mydeal, mydeal.com.my. Around end of September i bought something from them. It was a pre-order and they stated the estimated shipping date and period. I wait until near the date, and when the thing i bought still not arrived, i thought maybe there's some issue with the delivery, so i keep waiting until the estimated shipping period ended.

Then i emailed their customer service asking about the status of my purchased. They replied saying the merchant were having some issues and cannot get the items on time, thus they offered me refund in credit deal with same amount of what i paid. I was told it has no expiry and can use to purchase anything from them. But i straight away refused saying i want cash. Then i was replied saying my financial details already sent to the responsible department for them to proceed with the refund, and it could take up to 14 days for the process. I was quite surprised bcs they never asked me for my account number, But then shrugged it off since i thought it is possible they can get it from the payment process i made.

I waited until day 12 after the last email i get saying the refund will be processed. Still, i havent got my money. So i emailed the customer service asking if they can make sure i will get the refund in 2 days. No answer. after hours, i emailed again demanding their respond on my case. No answer. I was already fumed from the poor service, then i emailed for third time informing i will proceed to the Consumer Tribunal if there's no reply from them. No answer. Then that's it man..

Bcs of my busy schedule, i could not reach Consumer tribunal. After 2 or 3 days, an email came informing me the failure of the merchant, the same words i got after my first email. I was surprised again since they offered me the same thing, refund in mydeal credit. I replied to that mail stating i already made myself clear about the case, and the story went on and on with many replies apologies, asking for my account number, and then come again the assurance that the refund process could take up to 21 working days. FUNNY! As if they told me to wait longer than i've been waiting. I replied to them i want in a week at most, if not then i'll really go for consumer claim. They promised me everything and i was just rolling my eyes literally. But then i got the money within waiting period i can tolerate. The way my case was handled is so misleading, and i feel like being swindled. The first email conversation, the 14 days one is a total bluff.

So people, be careful when you shop online(and offline), know your right, and keep every traces of your conversation with the seller. If unpleasant things like this happened, it can be a help. Ask for what you can stand for, if you don't know your right then seek for consultation. I was lucky to have a law student friend she told me what i can do.
